China To Start Grand Gathering Celebrating CPC Centenary

BEIJING, CHINA - JUNE 07: China will soon start a grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver an important speech at the event that will begin at 08:00 on Thursday Thursday 07 June 2021, which marks the CPC's 100th founding anniversary. A large-scale chorus was staged at Tian'anmen Square before the gathering. The CPC is the largest political party in the world. It has 95.148 million members as of June 5, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee announced on Wednesday. On July 23, 1921, the first CPC National Congress was convened in Shanghai, marking the founding of the CPC -- an epochal event in China's history. Starting from there, the Party's leadership had moved across China strategically before settling in Beijing in 1949. Under its leadership, China has become the world's second-largest economy.
