1831: President Andrew Jackson (1767 - 1845) and his cabinet succomb to the charms of 'Celeste', a dainty figure representing Peggy O'Neil, the wife of War Secretary John Eaton. When O'Neil was snubbed by the wives of the other cabinet members for her dubious past, Jackson halted cabinet meetings in anger, prompting its members to resign.
