DARMANESTI, BACAU, ROMANIA - 2018/12/30: A boy seen with a drum playing for the bears during an end of year festival. People in Trotus Valley in Romania dress into bear skins and dance to chase away bad luck and bring happiness and blessing to their village. In the past, Roma people captured and raised wild bears and used them as performance animals for money. People believed that bears can heal illnesses and bring strength to them. After keeping bears was forbidden, people started to dance in bear skins to keep the New Year tradition alive. The price of a skin can be as high as 3000 euro.
