Rome, Italy, July 15 -- The nave and the main altar inside the catholic church of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria, in the heart of the Jewish Ghetto, in the historic center of Rome. Built in the 8th century among the Roman ruins of the temple of the Portico d'Ottavia, this ancient church owes its name to the fish market that occupied this area of the ancient city. The iconic Jewish Quarter of Rome, the oldest ghetto in Europe, is famous for the presence of hidden alleys and small squares, where it is easy to find small restaurants of Italian and Jewish cuisine, and remarkable Roman archaeological remains. The ghetto of Rome is located in one of the oldest districts of the city between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol Hill) and the River Tiber.
